For example, I found it in comics world (the chronicles of the black moon, ...) or he defined as a unit of soldiers "Berber" Moroccans in the French army from 1908 to 1956 (Gum military wikipedia), and even a Russian magazine which also refers Gum wikipedia. That's a lot for a "simple" nickname.

For me, the birth of goum was created in the years 96/97 after an error when my teacher has read my surname on my first math course of the year: "Mr Goumard. This had many students laughed and stayed. This one is too long, he finished just Gum. Since then, my acquaintances and friends call me like that.
